Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck is one of the most popular and richest Druk Gyalpo who was born on February 21, 1980 in Dechencholing Palace, Thimphu, Bhutan. Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck (‘jigs-med-ge-sr-rnm-rgyl-dbng-phyug- , Wylie: ‘ jigs med ge sar rnam rgyal dbang phyug; born 21 February 1980) is the Druk Gyalpo or “Dragon King” of the Kingdom of Bhutan. When his late father Jigme Singye Wangchuck resigned the throne to his favor and he was crowned the monarch on December 9, 2006. A coronation celebration took place on November 6, 2008, which was the 100th anniversary of the reign of monarchy Bhutan.

The King initiated military-style training for volunteers known as the DeSuung Training Programme in 2011, on the request of the youth.
